The Best Hot Chocolate in the Chicago Loop

One of the best things about winter is not the snow or the cold. It’s hot – hot chocolate! A delicious cup full of silky, sweet heaven will warm you up faster than you can say marshmallow.

When you’re in Chicago, the thin and watery stuff just won’t do, so we’ve found the best hot chocolate in the Loop to help you feel all warm and cozy.

Hot Chocolate

One of the best places for hot chocolate in the city is in Wicker Park, but you don’t have to jump on the Blue Line to go get it. Mindy Segal’s HotChocolate has an outpost in Revival Food Hall, located right in the heart of the Loop. While you’re sipping on liquid luxury, indulge in one of the James Beard Award-winning pastry chef’s savory or sweet baked goods.

You’d expect the hot chocolate at Godiva to be good, and you’d be right. There’s a reason the chocolatier is known the world-round. Fortunately for residents of Marquee, it’s located right inside Block 37, so you can pick up a cup before venturing out into the wintry weather.

Vol. 39

For a hot chocolate with a little more kick to it, step into Vol. 39. The lobby bar of the Kimpton Gray Hotel has a boozy Bangalore Hot Chocolate made with Amrut Indian single malt scotch, yellow chartreuse, cinnamon, and dark chocolate, and it’s topped with boozy marshmallow and sprinkled with tomato dust.

It’s worth a side trip to the West Loop to visit BomboBar. Known as one of the most Insta-worthy coffee shops in the city, come December you’ll want to stop in for their Hotter Chocolates. Not only are they covered with clouds of whipped cream, they’re also accompanied by a mini-doughnut (and who doesn’t love mini-doughnuts?).

When you need to warm up and nothing but hot chocolate will do, these spots in the Loop and downtown Chicago will hit the spot. For more delicious treats, follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
