Christkindlmarket Brings Old World Bavaria to New School Chicago!

A tradition six centuries in the making, Christkindlmarket finds its festive roots in Germany, circa 1545. However, this incarnation of the holiday gathering is pure Chicago, of the here and now. Bask in the Bavarian jolliness of the festival, check off some names on your shopping list, and NomNomNom your way through the season!

Warm your hearts with the vocal stylings of The Neighborhood Elves, a local group of students who perform carols and collect funds for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Win-win-grin! They’ll go toe to boot with other groups like the Lincoln-Way West Madrigal Singers, the Lincoln Park High School Chamber Singers, and the Glen Sorgatz Phoenix Trio. For specific times and tunes, be sure to check the events page (and start your toes a-tappin’)!

It’s beginning to look a lot like YumTown, population: YOU! Immerse yourself (not literally) in the fabulous foods of our foremothers and fathers, as only we can make them in Chicago. Schnack on some schnitzel, indulge in the baked apple goodness, and wash it all down with a cold German brew.  And don’t forget the chocolate! This luscious list of vendors will satisfy your sweet tooth, your cheese tooth, and any other specialty flavored tooth you may have. Enjoy!
