Fun Workout Classes in the Chicago Loop

It’s that time of year when you renew your fitness goals. Unfortunately, the idea of running on a treadmill, riding a stationary bike, or pumping an elliptical machine is definitely not your speed. Now what?

If you think running in place is as boring as watching paint dry, a class might be a better way to reach our fitness goals. We’ve found some of the most fun workout classes in the Loop, so you can get in shape and have a good time doing it.

LA Fitness

Dancing is not only fun, it’s a great way to burn calories, which explains why Zumba is so popular. This Latin-inspired workout burns up to 550 calories an hour. When you take one of these classes, not only will you melt away the pounds, you may learn some new moves to show off at the club. LA Fitness has locations in the East Loop and the South Loop and they both offer classes.

Redzovic Jiu-Jitsu

Make your martial arts dreams come true when you take lessons at Redzovic Jiu-Jitsu. This school specializes in the Brazilian method, and classes are open to everyone from beginners to black belts. If you’re not sure if it’s for you, you can take a free class and see what it’s all about.

If you’ve ever wondered what the fascination is with SoulCycle, take one class and you’ll know why it’s got nearly a cult following. More than just riding a bike, these indoor-cycling sessions are 45 minutes of high-intensity cardio, strength training, and choreography. Instead of harsh lights, you’ll ride in candlelit studios while the instructor cheers you on.

The Bar Method

For a workout that’s a little more soothing than raucous, try out The Bar Method. This no-impact workout uses ballet techniques to help you create a sculpted and lithe physique. Instructors teach you to use your body weight, a ballet barre, and a few props to build lean muscles. This workout is good for people of any size, age, or fitness level.

When you take one of these fun classes, your workouts will be something you look forward to instead of something you dread. Sign up soon and you’ll be ready for Chicago’s beaches by the time they open for the summer.
