4 New Restaurant Openings in the Loop this Fall

One thing that remains constant in Chicago’s restaurant scene: it’s never the same. There are openings popping up every week, giving you new places to get your foodie fix.

This is definitely true in downtown Chicago. If you’re looking for the newest hot spot, check out these fall restaurant openings in the Loop.

Gibsons Italia

Gibsons Italia made a big splash with its riverside location in September. It’s the first new downtown opening for the famous Chicago restaurant group in twelve years, and this time they’re featuring house-made pasta and fresh seafood in addition to their signature steaks. As impressive as their cuisine is the view. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the dining room looks out at the Chicago River, the Merchandise Mart, Marina Towers, and the Nuveen Building.

With the opening of a spot in the Loop, Philadelphia stir-fry chain Honeygrow now has two restaurants in Chicago. It’s a great addition to the selection of lunchtime offers, and they’re also open for dinner. Although they’re from out of town, they’re working with regional producers to offer a more local and seasonal menu than you might expect from a chain. Each restaurant is different based on where it’s located, and this one works with Chicago’s Butcher & Larder, Oaktown, Indiana’s Cardinal Farms, and Iowa’s Country View Dairy.

Forum 55

Food halls are the food courts of downtown Chicago, and the newest multi-restaurant space is Forum 55. This concept brings some of the city’s favorites to one location. You can get sandwiches from Pork and Mindy’s, pizza and pierogies from Flo & Santos, and if you want more Butcher & Larder than Honeygrow offers, they’ve got a whole outpost. Forum 55 is only open for breakfast and lunch.

The Bellemore

The opening of The Bellemore in the vacant Embeya space is one of the most highly anticipated this Fall. It’s part of the well-respected Boka Restaurant Group and will be led by Chef Jimmy Papadopoulos of Bohemian House. The menu’s being billed as “New American Classic.” While that’s intentionally vague, with Boka’s history of quality restaurants, The Bellemore is sure to be another hit.
