The Theatre District is packed this year with musicals that will have you singing along. Broadway in Chicago’s created another successful season with hits like School of Rock, Escape to Margaritaville, and the blockbuster smash Hamilton. You’ll get into the spirit with Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, and at the Goodman Theatre, the holiday classic Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Speaking of the holiday spirit, you can’t miss it when you’re in the Loop. November 17 is a big day in Chicago, with both the official Christmas Tree lighting and the opening of Christkindlmarket. It’s the 104th year for the annual tree lighting, and this year’s tree is a 62-foot Norway Spruce donated by a family Grayslake. There will be performances by cast members of A Christmas Carol as well as recording artists Temecula Road.

The Christkindlmarket is another longstanding tradition in downtown Chicago. Modeled after the original Nuremberg markets, vendors come from all over the world to offer handcrafted goods. It’s a wonderful place to find unique gifts, as well as warm up with some traditional German cuisine.

State Street is definitely a great street – for a parade! The annual Thanksgiving Parade kicks off at 8 am at Congress Parkway and heads north to Randolph Street. Sponsored by McDonald’s, it’s a family-friendly affair filled with dance troupes, marching bands, nimble equestrian units, floats, local and national celebrities, and a giant turkey balloon.

This is just a sample of the many November events in the Loop. For even more fun things to do this month, follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more fun this month.
