Explore the Wild Side of River North at These Top Dive Bars

River North is known for upscale restaurants, luxurious condos, and fancy lounges and nightclubs. But did you know it’s also got its fair share of comfortable spots where you can kick back and relax? We’ve found four awesome dive bars in River North.

These are places you can have a cheap beer or a stiff drink with people who know your name.

The Shamrock Club

The Shamrock Club is on the same block as Gilt Bar and Kinzie Chophouse and is one of the best sports bars in River North. They’ll always have the game playing on their multiple TVs, and you can expect spirited camaraderie during baseball season with staunch White Sox and Cubs fans as regulars. Grab a stick and play some pool in the back of the bar, and order one of their burgers. You’ll be surprised at just how good they are.

Snickers Bar & Grill

Snickers Bar & Grill is a no-frills corner bar with a diverse clientele, including locals and tourists. With their menu of bar food and cheap prices, lunch hour is always busy. It’s also hard to find a spot at happy hour since it’s a popular place for an after-work beer. Try the gyros and be sure to ask what their beer-of-the-month is. It’s usually a craft beer offered at a rock-bottom price.

Rossi’s Liquors

Rossi’s Liquors just might be the diviest dive bar in Chicago. This bar frequently tops any dive bar lists because of its cheap beer, no-frills atmosphere, and late-night denizens. This is the place restaurant industry folk end up at when the other bars close. There are definitely no pretensions here, and you’ll find some of the friendliest people in the city stumbling in and out of its door.

The Boss Bar

While The Boss Bar has a full rack of liquor, you’re probably better of sticking with beer. This dive bar is known for its pool tables and late-night shenanigans and not for its cocktails. During the warmer months, the Clark Street garage door is opened to the outside so some of the fun spills out onto the sidewalk until the wee hours.
